When Hezekiah received the threatening letter from Sennacherib he took it into the temple and laid it out before God and prayed to Him about the seemingly insurmountable problem he was facing. God of course knew exactly what Hezekiah was facing, but this didn’t stop Hezekiah pouring out his heart before the Lord and pleading for His help.
Have you openly and honestly laid out the problems you are having with pornography in prayer to the Father? It is easy to feel too embarrassed to commune with God about such a topic. How often do you find yourself coming to God to ask for forgiveness after you have fallen, instead of approaching Him to ask for help overcoming before you fall. He already knows exactly what you are struggling with, and you need His help, and He wants you to be completely open and honest about what you are struggling with.
If you haven’t done so already you should find a quiet time and space where you can take as much time as you need to talk to God about the temptations you are struggling with, and be completely honest and up front. Then ask for both His forgiveness and help in overcoming this problem.
If you are not sure how to approach this, then a simple prayer like the following might give you a starting point.
Heavenly Father, I am desperately in need of your continued forgiveness and your help at the moment. I have become ensnared in the habit of viewing pornography, and I am finding it impossible to break free from it. No matter how hard I try my carnal mind fills me with thoughts and desires to look at these unclean images of all the immorality that the world has to offer. I desperately want to follow my Lord, and to do Your will, but I find myself constantly giving in to these temptations. Please Father, bow down Your ear and hear my struggles, and bless me with the wisdom and the courage, to overcome. Please Father, deliver me from this evil. This I ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
